I have been on some days where as you arrive it states that the park is sold out, so pre-booking is a must with or without a Merlin Pass.

Chessington combines a theme park with a zoo and sea life centre, making it a unique experience for families who want a mix of excitement and education.

In 2023, Chessington opened a fab new area called the World of Jumanji featuring a new roller coaster called Mandrill Mayhem. This is a great addition to the large roller coasters they have at the park.

May this year will see the opening of the new Paw Patrol area, which looks fabulous for younger children. This will include a Chase junior coaster, Helicopter Skye ride, and two other rides the little ones are sure to love.

Also, all eyes are on the brand new Minecraft section opening in 2027!

Thorpe Park is known for its adrenaline-pumping rides and is perfect for families with older children or teenagers who crave excitement.

Since Thorpe Park is popular with thrill-seekers, visiting on weekdays during school holidays is best. Arriving early helps you beat the queues on the most popular rides. Visiting twice with a Merlin Pass allowed us to explore the park at a relaxed pace and revisit favourites without rushing.

These are the parks we visited this past school holidays, but we are already planning to go to Alton Towers in the summer, as well as visiting Warwick Castle and other attractions too.

Personal Stories from Our Merlin Pass Adventures

Our first visit to LEGOLAND with the Merlin Pass was magical. Watching my youngest’s face light up as he built his first LEGO car at the workshop was priceless. We timed our visit early in the morning, which meant we could enjoy the Dragon Roller Coaster multiple times without long waits.

At Chessington, my family loved the mix of animals and rides. One highlight was the Zufari ride and seeing the giraffes out in their paddock. Our children said it was like being on a real safari.
